Descendent of the Great Chola Dynasty
Also, (from what little biology I understand) DNA tests will show-up descendents only on the maternal side; basically, we can figure out RRC-Vanathi's daughter's daughter's daughter's ... daughter (or son) living today, assuming …

Who owns the media in India? Interesting
Good point. I read MSNBC news (here in US) regularly, and whenever they have a news article on either Microsoft, NBC or GE (their parent companies), they specifically mention that MSNBC is affiliated to them, so that we are warned of any bias. I thi…

in the article, they interpret rayalaseema as land of kings (rajasthan). i think seema is closer to 'border'; rayalaseema may be taken to mean "kingdom's border". is this right? arul.

I think what stops Maniratnam or Kamal is that even before the movie is released, there will be some people protesting against some part or other not being politically correct. Arul.

Herostone inscription
I remember there was a similar news article mentioning tamil brahmi dating 500 BC, with the word "Kariya Ravana" inscribed on the INSIDE of a burial "pot". Does anyone remember/have any update on it?

I remember reading somewhere that the proportion of sanskrit (vadamozhi) words in sangam tamil was much less than later versions. The percentage of sanskrit words was shown to be increasing as time passed, thus implying that tamil and sanskrit were,…

If glorious in sense of architecture, then cholas/pallavas definitely. But literature-wise and for ancientness, both come only after pandiya kings (Pandiya kings are mentioned in Vyasa's mahabharata, right?). -arul.
