A small request
  • Friends,

A small request. Would it be possible for all you to write in English
and not Tanglish (Tamil using English letters) which is quite
    difficult to read.

If we really want to exchange mails in Tamil, then I think we have to
use the Tamil fonts, or atleast who-ever can, should convert them
into jpg/pdf files and post them here.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Mathy (with headache)
  • I fully agree with Mathy. Writing tamil in english letters is very time consuming and sometimes confusing. Such mails may miss the attention of many members.
Pl use standard tamil fonts like Mylai TSC - if you wish to write in tamil or make it a jpg as she has suggested.

For Writing/reading Tamil in windows computers Download & Install eKalappai=

  • Shankar,
I think Mathy has a point. Her mail doesn't seem to convey that she is against english. I do agree with her upon onething. Itz really hard to read thamizh typed in english, esp. when u are used to e-kalappai or murasu. If u could type only in english, then probably u shud stick to english only, if u wanna compose in thamizh, then probably u may wanna use e-kalappai. just a thought.

  • >Her mail doesn't seem to convey that she is against english.
Maybe she is not against English, and I did not so.

    >Itz really hard to read thamizh typed in english

I buy these words, 100%. It is fun to type in Thanglish, but reading
is difficult; there is no doubt. But what are we going to do..? Ask
    everyone to go to a browsing center/office where there is win98/95?;
where the system is logged on with administrator priviliges? where
they allow one to download & install an "exe" file?

    Regs the "only english"........

You are the moderator of this group and I respect your words as such,
okay; maybe I (only me) will lose all those "creams & cherries..."

    Lovingly (note, not "anbudan")

  • Dear Shankar,
Pls. dont get me wrong. I didn't say we shud stick "ONLY" to english. But if u send a big transiliterated mail, itz hard to read. If u wanna compose in thamizh, use e-kalappai. An occasional oen-liner in thamizh written in english is not a problem to read.
    Hope I clarified,
    Ram

  • Hello Everbody,

First let me tell you, iam also a tamizhan. I too like
reading and writing in tamil. But let's all of try to
understand onething. Some of us has limitations
towards downloading stuff because of the reason we are
working in client place. So i request all of you to
write any mails for the group in english. Krupa please
write in pure english (sometimes it is very very
difficult for me to understand. just a request).
Writing in english doesn't mean we are not tamizhans.
If so lot of us are working for english organizations
(for e.x iam working in a english land does it mean
iam not tamizhan at all). Mugunth, iam sorry iam not
able to read any of the mails you sent. If you could
write it in tamil and make it as jpg and post it in
the group, everybody will be able to read.

    thanks for understanding
    Sreeram
  • I too go with Sreeram's words. We have limitations in
our work place for downloading stuff. So everyone pls
    write mails in English.
