Adiyen still fails to see the strategic importance of defeating the Northern Emperors - especially since Rajendrar did not consolidate his victory nor have an effective administration of the North.
Secondly, why go all the way for Ganga jalam when there was the Kaveri jalam at this doorstep (literally muttram of Chozha naadu)?
Interesting because a supposedly "non-Tamil" king Nandivarman the 3rd (825-850) gloried in adding 'kaveri' to his title after defeating the Chozhas and Pandiyas (see Nandhi Kalambagam, 3rd Nandhivarman pattyams.)
Also, Pallava kings repeatedly fought and beat off northern attacks on Tamil Nadu, even when at times Chozhas and Pandiyas supported the northern invaders just to get back at the Pallavas. If they had not fought off the northerners (rastrakoodars, chalukyas), imagine the state of Tamizh and Tamizhar in the 11th century!
Interestingly, it is said that Nandivarman III gave his life to hear the Nandhi Kalambagam - he gave his life to hear Tamil! A non-Tamil king!?! Never heard of anyone else - Chozha or Pandiya - doing that. Closest we can think of is Andiyaman.

neither language nor religion actually united the tamil kings. memories ran long and they were destroying each others capitals in novel ways. i agree this infighting weakened the system and no effective resistance offered to the sultanate armies when they came.
to be very factual malik kafur and veerapandiyan were on equal footing in 1314 in terms of technology unlike babar and ibrahim lodi where the former had cannons. malik defeated and looted tamil lands entirely on his personal management of the troops. interestingly malik a eunuch had risen from the harem and he commanded even allaudin khilji's brother who was his subordinate.
> He Conquered Devagairi, took supplies from there for attacking Warangal.
when malik attacked warrangal of the kaakatiyas the siege of the two walled fort of warrangal is very well recorded in turkish court diaries. pratap rudra was the king and he never met malik. a gold statue of his in chains was sent in lieu of him. also elephants and treasure and the kohinoor diamond, first time recorded in history
pratap never helped malik attack madurai in fact during the next invasion by thuklaks pratap was captrured and sent to delhi in a cage. half way he commited suicide.
it was the hoysala dynasty that assisted malik during the madurai attack
help me in getting answers on the other questions i asked.
