freinds, i felt very depressed to see the temple to day. i visit the temple atleast 2-3 times every week in the evening. to day the atmosphere was confusing. generally i get a deep meditative feeling whenever i go around the praharams.today things were different.hope thigs will settle down to proper place soon.
now coming to history, 1.im glad that some consensous has come that hiranyavarman has antedated kochengannan. 2.kochengannan must be 3-4 AD? 3.WHAT HAPPENED DURING KALABHRAHS REGIME? 4.how much reliability can be given to the kancheepuram inscriptions about pallava contribution to the temple? 5.when did the dheekshidhars exactly arrived in chidambaram? 6.why suddenly chidambaram became so important during appar-sambandar phase? 7.what brought manika vasakar to chidambaram? 8.why manika vasagar legacy is sidelined in chidambaram even to day? 9.why periya-puranam is chidambaram centric? 10.why thiruvilayadal puranam portrays cholas in villainous tone? 11.why thiruvilayadal puranam chronology of events does not correspond to estabilished historical facts? 12.u.v.saminatha iyer had published a version of thiruvilayadal puranam written in 13th century which has different chronology of padalams!! 13. why sangam works sidelines siva? murugan is given importance!! 14. is sangam literature madurai biassed? 15. why thirumoolar not included in sangam texts? 16. his works were found hidden in thiru-vaduthurai: why? why they should have been hidden at all? 17.if so he has written prior to kalabrahs and hidden by his followers in the fear of kalabrahs. if so is he not a sangam age saint? 18. he has translated agamas into tamil- that means he belonged to the agama phase in gangetic plains(2-3 AD).
the answers may take lot of time. i shall continue my pursuits
Hope you are able to read THILLAI & NATARAJA by B. Natarajan s/o Historian SRB.. which will provide openings for your queries re Kochenganan & Hiranyavarman... He deals with Kochenganan under the exclusive heading ... He has dealt with related matters to Chidambaram... And covers Thirumoolar too to some extent. Re Thirumoolar pls refer Adheenam publications.
Re Thiruvilayadalpuranam ... there are atleast two versions already...
Authors - timeframe - contents - commentaries ... has to be looked into as a separate thread..
Re Siva not figuring in Sangam Literature ...
Alamarselvan of South during Sangam & Northern Siva of Mt Kalilash - Kotravai @ Kali turning Uma, becoming Uma, then becoming w/o Siva, their fusion etc., have been discussed in our Group widely earlier.
you may have to read Archieves and also research works.... like PENN DEYVA VAZHIPADU by Dr. Kalaikkovan.. and related books are quoted in this book also.
Does this not throw the global warming hype out of contention :-)
It is commonly mistaken practice to associate the sun spot effects / irresponsible attitude of humans / ozone depletion etc to global warming.
Earth was significanly warmer and this whole cycle will keep happening.
If a snake was so huge, who else existed then and how big / powerfull were they ?
Is it not amazing how huge monuments etc were constructed when large cranes and huge machinery were not available, the sphinx of Giza, in the 2500 odd BC for example.
