varur and otriyur
  • now that you mention this SPS
both are indeed prithvi lingams( made of soil)
a common name for both gods putridangkondaar

both are maamanaar viidu's for sundarar

both are places where he stayed for long

    lord thiyagarajar famous in both

    any more you tell me
  • both temples have the bhagyam being visited by dhiwakar..

  • since the topic is revolving around thiruvotriyur can anyone inform the
    period of "pattinaththaar" ?
  • pattinaththar lived in poompuhar during its peak.
perhaps when it was an important town/ capital of cholas
so that can give a clue
  • Karikalan perunthirumaavalavan, made Kaveripoompattinam as his
capital, so might be 1800 years back.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • I had visited his samaadhi (really a bad scene).
I do accept the fact that pattinaththaar is a sidhdhar and he may exist even
    now.

But, there has to be a definite time frame in which he lived with his
physical body. (Contemporary - uruthirakiriyaar(king of ujjain); both were
believed to guru/sishya and stayed at Thiruvidaimarudhur). The only link
where we can find is whether ilangovadigal's period is prior to pattinathaar
or not ? We can find this from the verses of silappadhikaaram and
    pattinathar paadalagal.

BTW, is there any mention of silappadhigaaram or pattinathaar paadalgal on
    rrc's kalvettugal ?

" brahmahathi" nnu ellama ennai thituveenga???
  • one more query.
when pattinathaar and uruthirakiriyaar stayed in thiruvidaimarudhur whether
"brahmahaththi dosha vaasal" was prevalant there ?
  • But, Thirubuvanam is known for Brahmahathi Dosha nivarthi. And this
    both places are very near.

The temple preist at Thirubuvanam told me, one of the pandya king,
Varaguna Pandian, had his Brahmahathi Dosha Nivarthi at Thirubuvanam.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • I believe brahmahathi dosha nivarthi is in thiruvidaimaruthur.
I am not sure of thirubhuvanam.
  • maybe, i am wrong that dosha nivarthi is at thiruvidaimarudhur.
because, in th''v'marudhur, the temple dharshan route itself would ensure
you that you do not come out of the same brahmahathi vaasal.
