who was the chola king who threw govindaraja into the sea is there any connection between that drowned idol and thirupathi? who was the king who installed it back again.? very interesting topics
Supposed to be Kuloththunga Chozhan the Second, grandson of the First Kuloththungan. He is called 'Kirumi kanda chozhan' by some Vaishnavite authors. There are stories of Kooraththazhwar, being blinded by him.
Which king installed it again is not known. I've heard that it was brought back under the auspices of Saint Ramanujar.
There is a book by Jegasirpiyan called 'Thiruchittrambalam' which deals with this story. I did not find it quite convincing - both from religious and historical view.
How I would love that to be true! oru chozha raja, athuvum kuloththungan-gra peroda ippadi ellam nadanthukittarnu ennala nambave mudiyalai.
But you go and open any vaishnavite website, kooraththazhwar torture paththi oru periya kathaiye irukkum!
When I visited thillai recently, Govindarajap perumal paarkkave brammandama irunthar! I was comparing Him with the one in the temple in keezh Thirupathi. ivvalavu periya moorthathai eppadi veliye kondu ponanga? Highly confusing!
athuvum antha kathaiyila padikkanume, raja oru varam viratham irunthu thane kondu poi kadalil pottaram! manushanala agara kariyama athu!
