dear dhiwakar there are so many political and personal appointees in the original 63 sundarar was one deserving candidate but his mother, father and foster father are also in the 63 the pandyan royal family which welcomed sambanthar into madurai also joined the list(nedumaran, mangayarkarasi and their pm join the list) and in the process many deserving candidates got left out.
i remember appar peruman in SS... other is Siruthondar... that is paranjothi.. the third one mentioned is Thirugnana sambandar..... am i right???
now there might be political influence in appt of siruthondar which too iam not sure.... but do you say that appt of appar and sambandar too as political or personal choices???
definitely appar and sambandar deserved their places. so did karaikal ammaiyar( the only sitting one if you noticed) so did a host of others.
the two political apointees that you missed were charecters in ss
narasimhas brother in law- the pandyan- nedumaran and the girl he loves mangayarkarasi.
the personal apointees incluse sundarars mother and father.
in that case those left out include appars sister who was responsible for his conversion. and kosengkat solans mother who on the day of her delivery hung upside down so that the delivery is delayed and the son is born a saiva devotee( according to the astrogers)
since i do not know much about her, might be iam missing the reason for she being appointed a nayanmar......
but why do you say that nedumaran and Mangayarkarasiyar do not fit the bill???? can u elaborate ... i do not know about them anyway...
the same regarding sundarar's father and mother..... if being the parents is the only criteria then we wud be having 126 nayanmars in parents alone assuming that only the original mother deserves to be in the list.... if you take the step mothers and all nobody knows how many it wil be.. ( enna sir panradhu.. budhdhi ippadi dhaan think pannudhu..) and another 63 i children.... so total 189 nayanmars......
