chola capitals their desertions?
  • now that we know it rained sand over uraiyur , we can visualise why the
    cholas left it.

now could somebody first list the chola capitals?
and then we could talk about why they deserted them

    was puhar ever a capital?

  • Venkatesh
Uaraiyur was the sangam cholas capital....
Poompuhar became the capital at karikalans time as uraiyur was taken over by velirs and he had poompuhar as his capital
His descendents ruled from both and fought with themselves Nallakilli and another Killi....

Vijaiyalayan times Pazhaiyarai though iis is said he chased the mutharayars out of Tanjore and took over it...

by Sunadarachoal time and RRC Thanjai was the capital...

Rajendra built GKC and moved capital to there and i think that was the capital of the later cholas

    Am I right fols

Everybody sees things as they are and wonder why
I dream of things that were never there and wonder why not?!
  • Cholas were of two clans, Chenni and Killi.

Obviously, Ilanchetchennai, who drove out Ashokas attempt to invade
Tamilland was of Chenni clan. Nedunkilli, Nalankilli and etc were of
    Killi clan.

Sundara Cholar, according to PS, claims to be of Chenni clan.

Killi, had thier capital as Uraiyur. Karikalan seems to have Kudavoil
    as his second capital.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • Dear sri
was puhar abandoned after a tidal wave? or before the legendary wave
    that destroys the town.

nagarathars of chettinad were initially traders in puhar. the
frequent flooding of their godowns created a fear psychosis.
a 1500 years later , now having settled in water starved ramnad and
sivagangai they still build houses with ground floor at 7- 8 feet
high with many steps leading to it fearing a flood

why the nagaraththaars moved to pandya land is another story (very
remniscent of the jew's mass exodus in pharoh's egypt.)
