• speaking about kalasams there used to be a story about them being
    filled with different types of grain meant to be seeds
    during frequently occuring famines people used to eat up the grain
    meant for seed the next year.
    thus there ensued an artificial famine inspite of good agricultural
    conditions
    the kalasams of temple s were made of copper alloys which conserved
    the virility of seeds and they were replenished every twelve years
    during kumbabishekams
