    i am interested in temples which resemble the big temple at thanjavur.
    that was clearly the first and the biggest.
    some in the list
    gangai konda sozhapuram
    thirubuvanam
    keevalur near sikkal
    thiruvanda koil near pondichery
    are there any others?

    During the nineties when we were in Trichy, the standard weekend trip
    we used to do family and friends was.

    Thanjavavur/Thirubhuvanam/Darasuram and GKCpuram separately.

    These 4 temples built during almost successive Chola regimes,
    showcase the evolution of temple architecture and sculpture rather
    nicely.

    not because u may be senior person.

    now coming to your query.

    of course bragadeeswara temple is biggest

    but not first.

    u might be remembering that one of rajaraja cholas
    forefather (i thing it was his father) built 64
    temples. most are similar to that.

    one which is near to musiri ( i couldn't recollect the
    name) was the model for tanjore.
