Dear Natarajan Comparing Padayappa's Nilambari to Sivakami interesting
Generally we men dont like egoistic ladies. In SS Sivakaami's words and deeds hurt Maamallaa many a times. So we are biased and poor Sivakaami though she got all the sympathies of her creator Kalki, she miserably fails to earn the sympathies of the readers.
I think Kalkis potrayal of women is itself an interesting discussion The man creates so many different spectrum of feminine emotions which even a female author will rival.
I wouldnt agree with you that Sivakami did not earn the sympathies of the readers they did but that was a foregone conclusion....In Yavanarani the Rani earns more sympathies than Puvazhagi who endured more hardship but the climax was kind of unexpected whereas in SS you know the end..
Sivagami was arogant ,Proud , stood up for herself I dont think there was anything wrong in it....She had moods and changes of thought like all men all women....So we can be sexist here...
As for Men not liking Self standing and sustaining women The main book to read is Aliaosai The hardships Seetha nad Tharini undergo and the changing facets of emotions are great.
