Doubts in PS
  • Dear all,

While reading the PS again, I got a doubt. Thought I will clarify
    with the group.

Is there any historical proof that the Pazhuvetarayar's conspired
the overthrowing of AK and bringing UC to power? Becuase since PZ are
committed to the chola kingdom, they should have obeyed whatever the
King, ie. sundara chola says and should not be going against them.
Thats visvasam, right. I just wanted to know about the historical
proof. Probably its Kalkis plot to make the story interesting. Any
    comments.
  • I am not answer your question straight...

Uthama Chola, joined hands with Ravidasan to have Adhitya Karikaalan killed, And there is a research that Ravidasan is a Chera, rather than a Pandya. If this is so, then there are chances that Pazhuvetaraiyar to have been a part of this. After all every body is human, a oath may be important but circumstances changes every human right?

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • Yes. Though not a straight answer, its logical.

Then we can assume that UC was a great strategist than AK or sundara
chola and not a backboneless creature as depicted by Kalki. Cant say
he must have been much greater strategist than RR, because as Sri
said earlier, RR never thought of ascending the throne when AK was
there and so he never involved in such politics. So by the time he
realised the plot and reacted, UC would have finished the game.
My opinion is UC used Ravidasan and co to kill AK and used other
sitrarasars to ascend the throne. If this is true, what was the
status of pazhuvetarayar in UC regime? any comments.
  • I guess, the crime might have been motivated by UC and
his associates, since there seems to be several years
between the murder of AK and the punishment of the
    murders.
Ravidasan & co would have enjoyed a great time under
    the UC regime.
RR might not have possed the authority to bring them
to justice. So he waited for the right moment ( until
he comes into power )to punish them.

BTW, I have a silver coin of UC. I dont know which UC
it was. They also say that Rajendra Chola was also
called as UC. Somebody please clarify!
  • y there is no war recorded between 969 to 988, any
    info?
