I think we are in similar age group and back-ground. Thanks.
Re Rajaraja's commencing Big temple in 1006 and commemoration in 2006, the idea is gaining momentum and I spoke to a few in this regard:
1. Release of a book / work by the President of India : I am given to understand that President receives books and hardly releases. There is a possiblility that this event may fall within the secular fabric and hence some one else may be looked for.
2. Spoken to Dr. Kudavoil and Dr. Kalaikkovan and some comprehensive lay out will be worked within next 3 - 4 months. Dr. Kkvn just released his magnum opus Adyantakaamam. Dr. Balu is also on to similar work nearing completion.
3. Any event related to RR without involving Dr. Nagaswamy will not be complete. We shall try to reach him.
Last week also I had been travelling along the Cauvery. It is beautiful and reminding us of Kalki's vivid descriptions.

Weekend I was travelling in and around Tiruchi on a private visit. Cauvery is full and it is lush green all around. It was raining at some places, remainding Kalki's PS. It was a wonderful weekend.

You have made me home sick at the same time happy...
We used to live in Ariyalur and my grandparents lived in Thanjavur...
So everyweekend we used to ride on the bike to thanjavur and it used be just lushgreen everywhere....its a joy to see mother ponni reaching samudraraja with all her five arms....
Nothings changed from kalkis time...or his description of RR times in cholanaadu except that recently it was only manal in all the rivers
Its very exciting to imagine the brimming waters ...the green paddy feilds....the vazhia thoppus and vethilai thoppus....
Now I can understand the meaning if AR Rehman song
thaye nin peyar sollum bozhuthu ithayathil minnalai payutheee....
