I fully accept venish vijay's views on SUn Tv.Sun Tv is killing tamil.I will tell you why i think so.
1)Its name is in English.And its founder family(MK)wants Tamil movies not to have english names.Talk about hypocracy and here it is,standing before us.
2)Sun TV can clearly say "we are business house. we dont have any literary motives".Then nobody will object.BUt Sun Tv says that it is doing yeomen service in promoting Tamil culture.THey point out 'dinam oru thirukural and veerapandiyan's saturday morning program as examples.Thats why we point out all this.
3)Even if they criticize they should have objectivity.As venish pointed out they rank anbe sivam lower than dhool.If its in business sense i can understand.But its not in business sense which they judge movies.Its politics.Has anybody seen sun Tv opening its mouth about vikram's kaasi?It did not.Since that movie was sold to some other channel.THey now attack silambarasn and T Rajendar since they speak against MK.They insulted "kilakku chemmayile" since kalaipuli dhanu was MDMK man.THey gave pathetic rankings to tenali since it was sold to raj tv.
4)JJ TV doesnt have any tamil promotion in their mind.Its openly aiadmk and they dont pretend as if they have holy objectives.Its propoganda piece and write off case.But we expect more from "tamil ina talapathi's" channel.
Sun Tv doesnt provide what we want.Its trying to make us see what it wants us to see.It does not want us to see kaasi and tenali.It wants us to see dhool and dil.It doesnt want silambarasan to become popular.It does not want comedian vivek to be popular.It demeans them.It has humiliated comedian vivek in every movie review.It is trying to change our tastes and preferences using its monopoly positions.
At times this gets highly comical.YOu only have to see veerapandiyan's nerukku ner.When BJP was allying with DMK,my god the leftist,dravidian disciple veerapandiyan was tearing apart congressmen in his programs even though he is supposed to be a neutral host.People like valapadi ramamoorthy and communists were torn apart by him.They actually have an intelligent way of doing it.They will invite both BJP and communist leaders and ask them to attack each other.BUt if they ally with BJP,they will edit communists scathing remarks or valid points and will run the program to show as if bjp won the debate.If alliances change they will reverse the positions.Thats all.
Jaya TV is very honest in this.Their debates will have only aiadmk men and alliance partners.Its very straight forward commercial.do we expect objectivity from propoganda piece?we dont.But sun tv pretends to be objective when they arent,and thats why we criticize on it.
All these complaints are valid to other tv's also.I am highlighting sun Tv only since,it comes from a movement which had restoration of tamil's past glory as its objective.Now sun tv is destroying it.MK attacked rajinikanth for showing the movie BABA in which rajini portrayed some yogi as living for 2000 years.He said that rajinikanth is promoting superstitions among his fans.Now why doesnt he attack suntv showing indira sounderrajan's reincarnation stories and marmadesams?Isnt that also promoting superstitions?
One thing i agree with dr sridhar.He calls for us to boycott all these junk artists.If i go to india i will see lots of movies and listen songs only since im nostalgic about the kg theatre in coimbatore and the urulaikilangu bonda they sell there.I see sun tv in india only since thats where all my aunts and uncles sit whenever they have free time.i will talk to them,but they wont talk back.They will talk only during commercial breaks.
You should see the difference in them.I will be treated like a nuiscance when serials or movies run.But in commercial break they will treat me like princess and answer all my naggings.Pretty saddening this is for me.I will stay with them for just a day or two,but they will talk to me only in commercial breaks or suntv news time.I feel as if sun tv is controlling their entire life and free time.if i call somebody during chithi time,i can feel the irritation in their voices.They have become slaves of serials.But they were good earlier on.thats what makes me so sad and hate sun tv.

I won't accept that they purpose'ly want to kill Tamil.. Infact I'm happy that the service, Sun TV as a satellite channel is providing to tamils around the world by spreading tamil entertainment throughout the world.. I moved 15 miles to a new apartment just so that i can install a dish and watch Sun Tv..
You only need to watch the "comedy time" to see the reach of Sun Tv. The problem is not with the channel per se, but with the quality of the comperers. Not everyone is bad.. I really admire a few newsreaders, they have excellent tamil speaking skills.
The fact is the comperers in TV channels are mostly from the creamy layer, (urban upper middle class folks) where speaking in English is the fashionable thing.. I seriously doubt if many of them would know to either read/write tamil.. That's the sad state of affairs in Chennai now..

Then are you trying to say that sun tv is killing Tamil without there knowledge? Iam sorry! you are completly wrong.90% of the comperers are killing Tamil, Is there no one in Tamil Nadu to speak the Tamil clearly?.Why can't sun tv put them?Because they dosen't worry about Tamil they are worrying about the money the glamour.

As you pointed out most of the comperers dosen't know to read/write Tamil.Iam so much confident because some of my classmates are now in Sun Tv as comperers, In the college days I had never seen them talking in tamil and they don't to how to write Tamil.Sun Tv dosen't need the Tamil they need Glamour.
Serials have made the families much more worser.Like priya during while Iam in my native - Nagercoil, all my family speak to me a lot but when the serial starts esp - 'Metti Oli', 'Annamalai' and some serials I dont remember the names they won't consider me at all. I don't know whats in these serials, When I tried to watch it one day, One Women in crying for almost 10mins and after that i got off unable to see it after that.
