Kunthavai and Nandhini..
  • Hi All,

I was reading the part where Nandhini tells Periya Pazhuvettaraiyyar
(PP) about how Kunthavai Pirattiyaar (KP) abused and shamed her by
asking her how she could marry this old chap etc etc. While reading, I
thought that something didn't gel right in the characterization of KP
in the rest of the book and her having said something like that. I
mean, given how Kalki described her qualities etc, I wouldn't have
expected her to make such a statement. Maybe I am nitpicking, but does
seem a little odd doesn't it?
  • I think this was Nandhini's exaggeration about Kundhavai, so that PP
will develop a hate towards her.
  • Hi
When aditya karikalan(AK) tells his past life to
Partibendran, he speaks about Kundavai's disgust for
Nandini since childhood coz she is very beautiful.Of
Course, Kundavai is also a human being and She must be
    envious of Nandini
I still have one more doubt: In the same episode, Ak
tells that after he returned from war, he saw Kundavai
and Nandini very friendly. suddenly Kundavai began
ill-treating Nandini. What cud be the reason for sudden
    change?

But I think Kundavai must have ridiculed Nandini for
marrying Pazhuvetar but Nandini must have
exaggerated(which she always does) to make Pazhuvetar
    angry
  • Dear All..

    Arun...it doesn't gel with Kalki's depiction of KD...because it's
'Nandhini's' version of how KD behaved and spoke. And it fits in with
Nandhini's behaviour, doesn't it? Amazing what jealousy can do to
you...Nandhini is quite jealous of KD's exalted position as princess
of the realm, and the popularity she enjoys. Nandhini hits out in the
only way she knows- bad-mouthing the princess to Periya
Pazhuvettaraiyar, who is at a stage when he believes everything his
    young wife says.

Kalki was simply great at depicting pshycological angles.
  • Thanks all. Hmmm Pavithra's "psychology theory" sounds very plausible..
