    Can you pl tell me about the Vamsam of Cheras.
     
    Cholas call themselves as Surya vamsis , Pandyas as Chandravamsis. Pallavas claims as from Aswathama.
     
    What abou Cheras? By any chance they are from Indra or Varuna?
     
    Please clarify my doubt.

    Dear Shankar,

    Cheras called themselves Agni vamsis or agni kulam. Read the following in an article about "Fireworship in ancient tamilakkam".

    "All of them the sun, the moon and the fire were considered as manifestations of the primeval agni."

    I will list the article source and Chera - agnikula references in literature shortly.

    Sun and Moon manifestation of Agni - So did they consider them as superior to Cholas and Pandyas? May be or Maynot be.

    I feel there is some missing link. We need to check.
