Dynasties that never lost a war--more proof
  • Hi,
I hope that I am not dragging it too far with dynasties that never
lost a war after building a huge temple.I did some more research on
it and found interesting answers.(I might be wrong somewhere, please
correct me with names and correct answers. This is just a childish
    study,that's all)

I found that rather than limiting to dynasties that built a huge
temple, what about dynasties that were somehow closely related to a
religious figure?Like an alzwar or nayanmar?

Vijayalaya's dyansty is related to kochenganan. He was a king as well
as a nayanmar. So vijayalaya belonged to the dynasty of a nayanmar. So
its no wonder that as long as his dynasty ruled it won and
won, barring a few battles.(Dont forget it was related to Lord ram
himself and king sibi too.Aditha chola's actual name was
    kodhandaraman)

Similiar is the case with Mahendra varma. He was closely related to
appar swamigal. After that loss to pulikesin, his dynasty never lost
awar again. And again many say that pulikesin did not enter kanchi
and was defeated by mahendra varma near kanchi.Maybe that battle was
lost since mahendravarma tortured appar swamigal
initially.Mahendravarma was also closely related to
mangayarkarasi, the pandya queen(who was chola princess)who again is
a nayanmar. So his dynasty never lost a war again.

And if we see the vijayanagar empire the story repeats itself. It was
blessed by none other than swami vidyaranya(a sankaracharya, who had
dharshan of mother laxmi)He founded the empire with two accountants
harihara, bukka and their valiant general kumara kambana.

This dynasty built huge temples in vijayanagar(current hambi)The
narashima temple there was very big(It was demolished by muslims
later)The last king of that dynasty was krishnadevaraya. His son died
at age 7 and after him his son-in-law ramaraya came to throne.Guess
what?Vijayanagar empire was demolished immedialtly by bhamini
    sultans.

Similiar is the case with sathrapathi shivaji. His empire was blessed
by none other than samartha ramdoss.Shivaji offered ramdoss his
empire and Ramdoss gave the empire back to shivaji and his
descendents.Guess what? That empire then never lost to mugals
decisively.(Shivaji's capture and escape was before this)

Shambaji was captured and tortured and killed by aurangazeb. But it
was after shivaji disowned shambaji as his son.And when aurangazeb
came invading deccan maratha empire went into guerilla warfare under
shambaji's son Rajaram. He hid in senji fort and there aurangazeb
bought all his forces. But the war lasted and lasted, aurangazeb lost
it and went back empty handed.

In 1710 maratha forces entered red fort and flew the saffron flag
there.Bahadurshah, the then sultan and aurangazeb's son was
humiliated and was reduced to paying tributes to maratha. Thus
samartha Ramdoss's dream was fulfilled.Shivaji's dynasty completed
    it's mission.

Interestingly when maratha's lost out to british adn surrendered
their empires the dynasty had changed.Peshwa's ruled maratha empire
    then.

I did not stretch it too far,did I?
  • Wow!! This is really an interesting piece of article.
On the lighter side, if 'Amma' knows about this, all aging temples in
Tamil Nadu will be renovated (;-)))

Pals, That was just a joke. Anybody pls don't take it serious ;-)))
  • Hi Priya,
Its really interesting , but i didn't find any connection of huge temples with war, surely we need a good clarification, on cholas, what went wrong? anybody can?
  • The name priya_vaishnava is very interesting:-)).
The article was also interesting - but things did not happen that
way. Each dynasty had to witness unbelievable rises and falls.
    I'll just quote 2 examples :
    * Towards the end of parantaka I reign, many territories were lost
and parantaka himself lost two of his sons in battles.
    Pandiyas/rashtrakutas were on the rise
    * Narasimha's son parameswarawarman almost fled out of kanchi during
one of the battles. His period did not saw great rise of pallavas.
