Records gift of 45 sheep for lamp to Thiruvalisvarattur mahadevar in Kattur.

    3. RRC - ARE 1912 254, 255, also mention donation of sheep/donation of land.

This valisvaram is a gajabrashta type temple. All inscriptions are tiled now. When enquired - pat came the reply - haan, enna kalvettu, adu koduthan, maadu koduthannu -

    Fortunately, these inscriptions were recorded.

There is a Kattur is mentioned as Vaippu
thalam by both sambandar and Appar. There are many speculations on which kattur is referred but no one have mentioned this kattur. There is a good possibility of this Kattur because

    a. Sundarar stayed long at Thiruvotriyur which is close by
    b. The name Kattur was existent in Parthivendran time itself.

    Sambandar-

    Sundarar:

  • Dear
There is a big river called periyar in Kerala. Can any body tell why it is called periyar? any thing relevent to EVR? The river in the olden period called chuliyum and this river periyar is one and the same? I request your estemed help in this regard
  • Dear Sir,

This is not related to anything with EVR. This river is originally
called as "Purana Nadhi", and later as the river is a wide one and this has been
started calling as "Periyaru Nadhi" and now they are calling this as Periyar
River."Kalady" one of the famous pilgrim place and the Birth Place of Sri Sri
Adhi Sankara is on the banks of this great river. It is one of the very nice
    place to visit.
