Dear Members, L H Longhurst assigned the rock cut temple at Thirumalaipuram (near Tenkasi) however nowhere else I found this temple under Pallava temple category. There is a Vishnu, dancing Shiva and a Ganesha image on the mandapa panels. Anybody have seen this cave or can share the pictures of the same?
Dear Saurabh, I have a stolen photos of the Siva Nataraja, Ganesa, and Vishnu from AIIS. Location: Vannachchipparai Hill, near Tenkasi.
Will that help? That it has a Pallava connection but is definitely Pandyan. 7th century. Very realistic Dwarfs, as there are on Brhadeeswara gopuram. Refs in Srinivasan and Sivaramamurti :"Nataraja in Art, Thought & Literature" One Gana plays a "Chandalavallaki", whatever that is. enjoy!, kathie
I tried googling it and couldn't find it, another spelling? kathie ps . . . . .and of course I'm always plugging for Keezhaiyur, if your GKCP is the big one in Ariyalur Dt.
