We saw three temples referred by Sambandar as Temples worworshiped Ramayana Characters
1. VaithWithdrawnle - By Jadayu, Sambathi 2. Vada Kurangaduthurai - By Vali 3. Usathanam - By Rama, lakshmana, Sugreevan, Hanuman and Jambavan
Let us now see a temple referred in Appar Thevaram.
Thiru Amathur - near Villupuram. Worshipped by Rama and hence the lord is called Abirameswarar.
The Godess has a separate shirine opposite to Siva temple. She is the Kuladeivam of many people in Villupuram area. There is a Sathiya parai before which people used to testify.
Once an elder brother stole his brother's property, converted them into gold, kept that insdie his walking stick. When brought before the stone to swear, he handed over the stick to his brother andsweared that everything is with his brother and nothing in his hand, which was technically correct.
Then took his stick back and on his way was bitten by a snake. Godess image has a snake w.o head running from the sthanas to hip.. ( The head is believed to be at the place where the snake came) I had seen this during abishegams in my childhood. ( My mother is from Villupuram town)
There is another Appar reference in Thiruvaiyaru where he mentions " Valiyar Vazhipadu". But there is a opinion that that Valiyar is learned people and not the Ramayana Vali. Hence i am leaving that.
