    Funny as this may be, it's a nice place for me to make a point I've made
    elsewhere before:

    Modern India can be said to start either in 1857 or 1947, which gives us
    less than 1/4th of the time the Cholas ruled, less than half the time of the
    Mauryas and Guptas, about 1/4th of the Mughal rule, and an incredible tenth
    of the time the Indus Valley civilization stood for...

    What makes us think we're more stable than those who preceded us?
