THE RAMA SETHU IN TAMIL LITERATURE !
  • The Ramasetu in Tamil Literature

There are numerous evidences in the ancient Tamil literature to prove that Rama got a bridge or 'setu' built to
enable the Vanara sena to reach Lanka.

    Among them 'Kallaadam',
the most ancient grammatical treatise by Kallaadanaar is one.

meaning 'Rama, after getting help from the Noble Gugan to coss the
Ganga, doing away with the rakshasas Karan,Maareechan and kavanthan in
the forests, performing rites for Jatayu which died fighting Ravana
while he was taking away Sita Devi, securing the friendship of vaali's
son, felling the seven trees or 'maraamras' ,vaali and the dark sea with arrows, getting a bridge built to cross the deep sea, killing the
rakshasa king Ravana, handing over the reign of Lanka to Vibhishana, the younger brother of Ravana, returned to his country and ascended the
    throne.

To that Rama the Avaatar of Vishnu and to Brahma, Lord
Shiva (with the third eye) gave two halves of his body.

    This
Koodalnagar( Madurai) is the abode of that Shiva.

  • I read few books written by various authors. Megasthenes, Fa-hien, Yuan chwang Etc., and Nowhere there is mention about Ramsethu. But In Ad 1020 Alberuni mentions about Ram and Lanka.
Periplus mentions about a war that Dasaratha undertook with East Iran and west Afghanistan with a mountain tribe and Dasaratha worshiped Sun God in the Sea Shore.

Can I get any other reference that mentions about ram sethu?
