I got to know about this group through a friend of mine (Annapoorni - I think she is already a member). I am an ardent fan of Kalki and his novels - so the obvious choice was to become a member in this group.
Looking forward to interesting discussions on PS and Kalki. Btw, I live in the SF Bay Area (Foster City), California - anyone who lives around here?

hee, hee, hee...neenga sollunga... is it appropriate to compare Ponniyinslevan and Sivagaamiyin Sabadham?

ennoda personal karuthu ennana - PS and SS are two masterpiece of Kalki and it is neither fair to kalki nor to the 2 novels (:) to compare the two. Each are set in different timeframe for one and also has different basic theme / idea and should not be compared is my humble opinion. vandha vodane, sandai aarambichutena? :P
I agree and disagree with Karthikeyan..The Indians are not starved for Thayirsadaam..because you get all the indianingredients including Kaimurukku and Krackjack in the US shops similar stat here...
as for restaurents most are run by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis and north indians so eating Thayir Sadaam in those is rare ...I understand Saravana bhavan has made an entry in the US..
as for as continental europe is concerned you have some good tamil food thanks to our srilankan brotheres and pondy tamils in Paris and rest of france
anna , theriyaama sollitenganna.... i have never crossed AVADI... think too much for me to comment about America... edho ange poittu vandhavanga solreenga... padichavanga vera..naan dhaan illiterate, tharkuri... neenga sonna correctaa dhaan irukkum...

But one thing anna... those north indians think they r only the true indians and only they represent true indian culture and this has also been percolated to lot of Americans/Europeans.people think indian music is hindustani music only and indian films are hindi films only...
ungalai pola periyavanga anga irukkenga... enna pannittu irukkeenga?.... edho thayir saadham saapittoma... software ai net lerndhu "Copy & paste " panni vaazhkaiya ottinomaannu irukkaadheenga..
tell the world that north indians do not represent the true india in all its diversities...we are also indians..... yet maintain our culture which is still intact and not hybrid as that of North india...
their culture is mixed and influenced by persian/arabs and all those moghuls.. we people from south still maintain our culture which is shared by all south people irrespective of Language/Religion...
tell them that there is a wide variety of things available in south india rather than those vapid things of north india.....
Do this.. propogate this.. show them what real india is.....that is what you can do to the community which fed you, which funded you may be direct or indirect.. remember every single pie paid as taxes like excise/sales tax has been utilised for your studies....
yet maintain the cordial relationship with North indians for we are brothers.....
When we are outside.. we need to develop brand equity... if this has to be done, the only way is to tell them and reinforce it.... we can be in india and be safe.. but it is for the safety of those people who live outside india...
don't say that racism is not there in US.. it is bound to start any time... remember the BPO backlash and the way which TCS lost the contract to a US company and a spate of legislations in various states of US against outsourcing to india!!!!
I agree we all feel the same way or atleast I do when they see a doc with brown skin the first thing the patients of asian origin do is talk in hindi....sorry I dont speak that lingo...
there is a dish in UK called Chicken Madras kanraviya irukkum....reason Madras is famous for curries and the pakis capitalise on it...
As for the brits it used to be anyone with asian features were Paki(Pakistani) and thats irritating...
thaings have changed in the recent years and if you speak Tamil they assume you are Srilankan..
There are many occasions when I have told that tamils are originally from India and have now settled in places like srilanka, fuji, malaysia, maldives and southafrican.
The common analogy I use in England is are you american because you speak English? That tells my english freinds the right reasoning.
secondly is a nurse calling you in the middle of the night asking if you can speak hindi or punjabi and adding but you are Indian....
the best answer which I have used so often is can you speak greek or danish? Its like that You have to Imagine India as a state like europe each state is like a country in europe with its own heritage and culture and my tamil culture goes back to dates when europeans were still in caves.
Anyway thats the price you pay for 'tiraikadalodiyum thiraviyam theduvadu...''
BTW Diwaplease delete the original mail while replying
this is not the case in europe alone.. the same persists evenin india. . in organisation where i worked with previously there used to be a lot of north indians... and when u say to them you do not know hindi they treat you differently as second rate citizens..
i used to go wild and shout them and ask them whether they doubt my nationality... i used to say that iam a true indian more patriotic than them. it isnot the language... those north indian buggars do notunderstand that the country is "India" and not "Hindia"...
Bloody hindi is just 500 to 600 yrs old..but nobody knows how old tamil is...i used to ask them "why hindi is the national language?" the reply would be "most people speak it".. then i will ask them " if that is the case.. only crow should beour national bird because it is in large nos and not peacock... dog should be out national animal rather than tiger coz dogs are more in number".. this used to make them quiet...
This should change... Those friendly punjabis acknowledge that .. but those hindi buggars do not understand... just because they are fair skinned they think they are superior and more cultured than brownish Tamilians. also i used to comment that our culture is superior than that of those buggars...
U know "Rahul Sankrutyayan"? the great hindi author lived in early 20th century and for a brief time after independence..he has written books on history of mankind.. and the translation of his work in tamil is named as "Volga mudhal Gangai varai". in his book he has described how those north indians were uncivilised when the dravidians were more advanced in science during early times.. andhe has also described that north indians wantonly had made the dravidians as asuras..if you get a hand on it read it. i used to tell them to read that book in its original Hindi form.
You are still not deleting the original mail Please do that.
I very well agree with you..Once me and a friend went to Delhi for UPSC interview...And we went to the station to get the tickets preponed.
My freind went and asked someone in english and the bihari jawans answer was ...app Hindi jantha nahin...bhratme kya kare...(You dont know english what are you doing in India?
You can know what my freind did told him where to place his bayonet of course in tamil....
That is the case actually there were some very nice discussions on ehy tamils were brown last year....
well the english novelist tom clancy says in one of his books that India was scientifically advanced when the europeans were in caves and america was not even a conceived thought.
As for Tamil..I always maintain we are a different dravidian race which have mingled and shared our blood with the much later aryans...
Hi guys; I have been a silent spectator to all ur mails from more than 4 months now. I have named my engineering company Kalki Technologies so u can imagine how much i respect the man and his works. i am still very new to his works and have really learnt a lot from ur mails. Most of the theories have been brilliant. Many thanks for the free history lessons given. Please continue in the same fashion.
