A scanned copy unique 1000 Rupee currency note issued by Indian Govt after Independance has been uploaded in the Photos section. The back side of this currency note has a fantastic picture of our Thanjavur Periya Kovil, this currency note is a tribute payed to the great architect RajaRaja Chola. This note is currently not in use.
This is the fifth Rs 1000 note made in independent India. There was one more Rs. 1000 note after this, and there after they were all demonetised in the 70s.
The then RBI Governer - N C Sengupta incidentally has signed only these Rs. 1000 notes. His signatures aren't there on any of the other notes. Possibly because of a short tenure of three months.
