I wish all our PS family members and their families a happy and safe deepavali I sincerely wish that this festival of lights will bestow happiness on all your families.
PS is a very large family which includes the members, their families, friends and those who are attracted by Kalki's PS Novel yet could not interact much...
Our very best wishes to one and all..
Re inscriptional support for Diwali, I do not recall of having read any such old inscriptions related to Diwali...
And the Naragasuran episode does not seem to have any other literary support either ...
Looks post Vijayanagar or Sarfojis.
But essentially DEEPAM is related to FIRE which is one of the Elements.
It also represents enlightenment...
ILLUMINATED PATH TOWARDS GLORIOUS FUTURE .. MATCHING OUR GLORIOUS PAST..
Request even silent members to avail this opportunity post a greeting ...

Dear Sir,
Deepavali is not only to celebrate the naragasuran's death, some people say that it is the final day of kethaara gouri viratham for god shiva, We have any historical support for this?
ACCORDING TO MY KNOWLEDGE, SINCE THIS FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CELEBRATED IN ALL THE STATES OF INDIA, SO THIS WAS STARTED FROM AKBAR THE GREAT OR SOME OTHER EMPERORS WHO RULED MANY PARTS OF INDIA. I S IT CORRECT ? WARM REGARDS, A.SUGUMARAN
Happy Deepavali Good wishes to all. It has truly been a privilege to be part of this group and sincerely wish everyone health, happiness and joy in days to come!!
All water on the morning of Deepavali is sanctified as Ganga, hence the good wish Ganga snaanam acha? In olden times Deepavali is marked by early morning ritual oil bath, blessings by elders, the fragrant herbal 'marundu' and of course crackers and visit to friends and family. Would be interesting to note how it has changed, in my home after elders passed away much of the ritual has gone and what remains is just exchange of good wishes with sweets and savories.
significance of diwali Deepavali, or Divali is a major Indian festival, and a significant festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. The festival is also celebrated by Buddhists of Nepal, particularly the Newar Buddhists.
it is the homecoming of King Rama of Ayodhya after a 14-year exile in the forest. Southern India marks it as the day Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura. In Jainism it marks the nirvana of Lord Mahavira, which occurred on October 15, 527 BCE. The Sikhs celebrate Diwali for on this day, the Sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji, was freed from imprisonment
As far as I have heard that Diwali is the day when Ram retuned to Ayodya after victory over Ravana and completion of 14 years.... thats why the day when Ram kills Ravana is celebrated as Dashera...
