Great cast! am sure it would have been an instant hit - the characters are so like the image of the actors in my mind...
But I think the actors for manimegalai and poonguzali can be interchanged... saroja devi can easily come across as a naive village girl, while savithri can do a more sophisticated role as manimegalai ....
I doubt. T.R Rajakumari has done many negative charecters very well. But where is the beauty which Kalki talks about. Sokka Vaikkum Azhagu? Thats not there. She was never so beautiful.
What about the cast with current cine stars? Not sure if this was already discussed. Else i will post my list which my brother ad me concieved sometime back. Pls let me know.
If I have a choice I'll choose some characters as mentioned below.
1. Aniruddha Brahmarayar - Javer Seetharaman 2. Periya Paluvetriyar - M.N.Nambiar (See his role in Nenjam Marapathillai) 3. Chinna Paluvetriyar - Manohar (villain of most of J'Shankar's movie) 4. Arul Mozhi Verma - Sivakumar (He has the look with peace in his face)
We have had this discussion earlier as well, for a change how would a hollywood version of ps be like
Nicolas cage - as VT Michael douglas - as Periya Pazuvettaiyar Mel gibson - as AMV John trovolta - as VT russel crowe - as Parthibendran Tom cruise - as Kandamaran ( venkat happy a) Sean Connery - as anirudhar
Demi more - as Nandhini Drew Barrymore - as kundavai Penelope Cruz - as Manimekalai dont remember ber name - the old lady who comes in bond movies as sembian madevi
Ohh.. my head spins. I would rather prefer to have my favorite charaters in my imagination itself rather than having the film industry kill my imagination with theirs. Unless something on the scale of Gladiator happens to PS, i pray no one takes an effort and screw PS. I prefer my imagination to that.
Vijay Interesting. But can't imagine vellaikarans as PS characters. Yenakkellam North Indian marble templeskku pona kooda I feel odd . Bhakthi varaadhu .
I agree with you. This is what happens with me on reading Asterix & Obelix (in French). I have never read that in english and i dont like the movie part of it since the voices of people that i have in my imagination do not go with the movie!
Well said Shoba, Yes here too. And I like Siva's stance that we better keep our imagination. Movies, even in the west have rarely lived up to the book for the same reason. Or perhaps a daring book lover can do it with entirely new cast. There would be no star egos to deal with and the story would be king.
Yes she wasn't and besides she was from a much older age group than Padmini and Saroja Devi!! Nandini is not that old in comparison to Vanadhi or Kundavai.
I would definitely opt for Padmini as Nandhini, she was indeed ravishing in her young days and not definitely the stereotyped housewifey Vanadhi. Perhaps Anjali Devi or SriRanjani would have made a good Vanadhi. Balaiah would have made an awesome periya pazhuvettarayar, he was such a great suave villain. Azhvarkadiyan could have easily be done by Thangavelu or Sarangapaani. Cannot help thinking the Sivaji-Gemini duo would have made for a great VD-RRC combo, when they were in their prime. MGR as VD? Hm, forgive me, am glad this was never made!!
We have lost the golden acting talent of those days, to me that ended with kamal-rajini era. Even Kamal as VD and Rajini as AK is not a bad cast but those days are gone too.The story'd better be left alone or done with a completely new cast, would anyone dare??
I actually read some where long ago...MGR wanted to make it a 5 hr movie....I think it was interview of the script writer of PS movie Actually he wanted to do double action of VT and PS..... he later try to make it into tele serial..but the problem was both sun tv and vijay tv started producing PS without knowing other person was doing it....then when they finally found out no resolution could be made who would drop it... finally no one made it....
talking about bond trivia- a favourite for quiz goers
james bond was the name of an ornithologist. ian fleming lifted it.
what was bond's wife's name. theresa how long was he married? one hour. she was shot on the steps of the church of the wedding( namma kamal atha vikram padathula lift pannitaaru.
> > Vikram...but if I remember right, its not just after > marriage...towards the end of the song 'vanithavani' Ambika gets shot... > > Though an illogical and flop movie, a out of the time movie for tamil
Illogical??? come on, it is similay story as Bourne Identity (book, not the movie). I guess Kamal would have read the book and made the complex story simple.
