Dr. Jabee mentioned of Vanoli heard by a King in ancient days. I always wondered how Rajendra went abroad and absented from the main land for so many years without remaining in communication with his Administrators! Is there any answer lying in any of the achieves? Regds. SB

Rajendra did'nt go in person. He sent only his generals. Even during ganges conquest, it was araiyan rajarajan who lead the army not the king.
It seems leaving the capital is not very safe for the king. The life of king should be preserved above all. Hence this restriction.
I agree with Gokul..It was Arayan Rajarajan who lead the Ganga campaign Those of you who are Rajendra Chola Buff reading Akilans Vengaiyin Mainthan is a must...Because he details the Ganages campaign,The building of Gangai Konda cHolapuram and retreival of the Pandya manimahudam from Rohanam..
I wanted to ask you this some time back when you were writing about Nagama Nayak under Lateral Thinking in Agathiyam (cutting the buffalo's head...).
What are the primary sources of Vijayanagar history, particularly the Krishna Devaraya - Viswanatha period? I have only read about the writings of Portuguese Nuniz and Paes, which are not very detailed. (At least not as detailed as your mails ;)
And eagerly expecting the Sun Tzu story from your pen( or keyboard).

Thank you for your compliments.
Ponniyin Selvan Group is devoted to the Novel Ponniyin Selvan and the literature and historicity associated with it.
It would be relevent to discuss things that are associated with it.
For one thing, Lateral Thinking is something which is on-going in Agathiyar. Detailed discussion of Nagama Nayak et al., are far out of scope here in this list. I only made a passing mention of RamaRaya because of the relevence that he made to the topic of discussion So also with Sun Tzu.
It would have been more proper if you had asked these things in Agathiyar where the thread is still on.
And we have not closed down Agathiyar yet. It is still there.
I have even started 'Vaishnavism and Kuloththungga' series in Agathiyar last night. It is recycled from some old Tamil.net postings that I partially made six years ago.
It is in Tamil.
There are abundant materials in Agathiyar archives about Vijayanagar/Madurai history.
So also with Sun Tzu, Bodhi Dharma and a host of others.
You have not heard the famous JayBee axiom:
'avaravarukku adhadhu'.
and its corollary:
'adhadhu anggu anggu'.

JayBee
