    i remember reading ( vaguely - someone can check and correct if i am
    wrong) in SS - kalki would hint that post defeat or the siege of
    kanchi, narasimha changes the pallava banner from the bull to the
    lion. can someone verify this and post

    Let me add a little to this confusion.

    Thirumangai Azhwar, in his pAsurams on Parameswara Vinnagaram, says

    "pAmbudaip pallavar kOn paNindha paramEcchura viNNagaramadhuvE"

    and

    "paRayudaip pallavar kOn paNindha paramEcchura viNNagaramadhuvE"

    Does this mean that Pallavas also had "Snake" and/or "Drum" as their
    emblem.

    Interestingly, Mylai Seeni.Venkatasami sir, in his
    book "Narasimhavarman", quotes the above pAsuram and says that Snake
    was one of the emblems of Pallavas. Are there any records for this
    other than the Azhwar's pAsuram.
