KaviriMaindhan
  • Dear Kayal and Vijay

I agree Kaviri mainthan was a let down as far as I was concerned

Kanthan Maaran as Hero was hard to digest..

Arulmozhis character took a complete nose dive..first Loka…then running away from wife and child…

Vandhiyadevan was made a laughing stock..Agreed historically Sambuvarayars beame powerful under kandamaaran but VD was powerful as well in the chola courts…

    Nandhinis character was muddled

Ravidasan and Alwarkadiyan were the ones to survive unscathed..

The Fish ensign on the hill was genious as was the limerick but taking away the achievement of RJC and saying let someone claim victory to this find is actually tarnishing a great emperor…Agreed it is fiction but doesn’t go too well

    Vanathi’s character moves up a notch…

I still cannot understand the need for Loka AMV Kandamaaran triangle at all….I wish the author would share his logic with us…

No doubt it’s a great read as a novel with its pitfalls…

Unfortunately it falls down where all others failed as a sequel to PS…

I still think Akilans Vengaiyin Mainthan is the only True sequel to PS in story line style and being close to the historical thread….

And ofcourse you still have the old gracious but still admirable VD
  • Vanakkam,

    > Arulmozhis character took a complete nose dive..first Loka…then
running away from wife and child…
YES, THE RUNNING AWAY PART WAS REALLY HARD TO DIGEST.
    > I couldn't accept Arulmozhi to be roaming behind any girl.

Anyone who has read PS will think the same. I read one book called
'Chithiravalli' or something long back. It depicted PS as dreaming for
a dancer. I just couldn't accept it. But, coming to think of the
reality, RRC had 12 (or 14?) wives :-)

    > The Fish ensign on the hill was genious as was the limerick
    S, THE LIMERICK WAS AMAZING.

    Good to know that!

  • Hi Swetha,

Good to see you after a long gap. Please continue to post.

If my memory is right, the limerick was written by you, right???

    Hi,

But even in PS didnt kalki indicate an inner desire of arulmozhi is
get away from all the royal activities - infact someone can refer the
discussion with the head monk in the choodamani viharam while he is
    recouperating...

    > > I couldn't accept Arulmozhi to be roaming behind any girl.

when poonguzhali saves arulmozhi from downing and when he is delirious
with fever, doesnt kalki show him as ( atleast in his dream) having a
    crush on her...
