some of the children of our members even do not know how to READ tamil language (mostly in overseas). Yet they show interest in PS and hence the Engish translation - online - helps.
They want to listen in Tamil. Audio script helps.. our Nataraj (vaaran oru Aalayam already commenced Kalki's alai osai .. pls refer ealier mails )
If we move into Tamil scripts, we will not be able to reach such upcoming future generation ..
Hence we have been maintaining to exchange mails in English ... to attract even those who cannot understand the script .. but appreciate the Story line/s.
We have Kathy - a voracious read and avid traveller in our Group from overseas ..
We are all very happy to see the enthusiastic contributions from New members.
Yes, it is nice to have postings in Tamil. It is even nicer to have bilingual posts. Even in this yahoo group, postings can be made in unicode for tamil.
i have been posting in a google group in tamil for 7 months now....believe me - the response levels are pathetic - practically nothing when compared to the energy and enthusiasm which we have in this forum. the strength of this group is in its diversity.
I too am a member of that group. I definitely agree with what our Vijay says. In fact I myself dont respond even to the extent I do here. One main reason that I dont respond there (purely my reason) is, typing in Tamizh with the uni-code or other fonts is a little cumbersome as we are not used to that so far. I understand that it is always the case when you start something new. But nevertheless, we like it or not, it is a deterrent.
One another thing about that group is, there is hardly any discussion on the posts from members barring a handful of regular contributors.
So my personal opinion is let us stick to the current method.
