Dasavatharam :: Deciphering :: Govindaraja Perumal
  • Shiv,

Are you are talking about another incident where the same thing
happened to Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati?

Is it a legend, mentioned in some pasuram or somebody told you ?
All I read is that it is suyambu, At the time of Ramanjua Lord didn't
have Sangu and Chakara, so everybody was claiming that it is their
deity (Shiva, Muruga, etc.,). Ramanuja went and proved that is it
    indeed Lord Venkateswara.
All community heads gathered one night, closed the doors of sanctum
and singing. Ramanuja cried and asked Lord to show the world who he
is. Next day morning, he showed Sangu and Chakkara and proved that he
    is Lord Venkateshwara.

This could be legend, but I remember reading this in a book I bought
in Tirupati few years back and heard the same through a discourse.

Hope you read venkat's response. As per the deciphering, it is
Govindaraja Permumal in Chidambaram, not Venkateshwara in Tirupati.
  • hi,,

i have heard in a discourse made by sri.velukudi that, the Govindaraja sanadhi which is in kizh tirupathi or chinna tirupathi was established by Sri.Ramanujar
Is Chidambaram Govidharajar and one at triupathi are same...?

To my know how, Sir.Ramanujar was in melakottai for nearly 12 years and later came to Sri Rangam, only after the demise of Kirumikanta cholan, and throwing up of Govindarajar into the sea took place very much after that, by then Sri Ramanuja had become very old.
More over... Why is that, that Chidambaram Govindarajar was targeted, as there were so many vishu temples in chola's kingdom? For that matter chola’s kingdom has the highest number of Divya desam

Can any one throw light on the historic information for the same!

    hi
chidambaram was the holiest of shrines for the cholas.
the only protocol ( sevi vazhi seythi)for crowning modalities of the
chola emperor exisits in the chidambaram temple.
give him a bath seated on the panchatchara silver steps and crown him
    in the 1000 pillared hall.
rajendra reportedly built a new capital GKC because he couldnt visit
chidambaram once due to a flood in the way in the kolidam. he didnt
even wait to finish the building and moved to chidambaram and made
    it a de facto capital.
one of the sacred thirumurais thiruvisaipa on chidambaram is by
kandarathithar a chola king husband of sembiyan madevi
some chola king might have over reacted.
the govindarajar certainly was removed from thillai. no doubt. if not
why was it re installed by the gingee naiks in 16th century amidst
great protests by the dikshithars.some even jumped off the gopurams
to die and make the installation ceremony defiled.
