Hi the world book day is being celebrated on april 23 originally The connection between 23 April and books was first made in 1923 by booksellers in Catalonia, Spain as a way to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes ( of don quixote fame) who died on that day. to that more sanctity was added as it was shakespeares birth day too.
BAPASI the book publishers association is conducting a function at connemara library from 4 pm onwards. it includes readings by many writers. also signing a 500 metre scroll by writers readers and publishers.
to commomerate the world book day i wish all our members buy a new book, gift a book, visit a library to borrow a book or commence reading a new book.
the book is a friend who outlasts all other relationships in life.
