  • Iniya thozamaikku,

vanakkam. I am a new memeber to this PS group. Indeed, it was a surpirse for me to know that there is a group on this. I browsed through the kalki fans database and have also included my name there....so pls. check that too.

Just as like everyone of you, I dont know how many times I have read through the novel and taken a journey to chola period. Now, sitting away from tamil nadu and being a memeber of the group, which is having same taste as like me, gives me enormous pleasure.

Thanks for your efforts and i hope to hear more from all..

  • Hi All,
Let me introduce myself as Sivan Krishnaswami a big fan(fanatic) of PS
and other kalki´s historical novels. Even though I have read nearly all
of kalki´s writingsI still prefer his historical novels much. Perhaps I
myself is very interested in history ánd kalki´s writings which I
happened to read at a tender age of 10 made such an impression on me
which never left. I am 40 now and still read PS, SS, PK whenever I feel
for it. Since I am living in germany for the last 20 years my english
is very damaged. Europeans other than English don´t accept English as
a major language so automaticaly my first choice of a word is german,
so pardon me if I make mistakes in a sentence.

I happen to read some mails from this group for the last couple of
days and I am impressed with the group. Dedicated fans who organize
tours to follow the foot print is simply great. I used to think as I
travelled between Kumbakonam and Madras (visiting g.parents) as I was a
boy, I am travelling in the same road as VT would have travelled with
his horse, it was simply thrilling for me to imagine like that.

Now , I have some questions which perhaps some can clarify.
I have read Nandipurathu Nayagi by dr.vikraman and found that VT was
imprisoned for about 10 years in Paathala sirai because of AK death.
Moreover Anirudha Brhmarayar helps him in disguise. How far it is
true. I also happen to read the first volume of Balakumaran´s
Udaiyar. Nothing was mentioned like that. Agilan´s venkaiyin Mainthan
also mentioned nothing about this thema.

It is nice to be here. I wish I will get some responses back from
people who has more knowledge to enlighten me.
  • VaNakkam

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come
    true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect
    only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are
    about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
    achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living
    creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no
    time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
    and too happy to permit
    the presence of trouble.
  • dear bala,

  • Dear friends, I have joined today as a new member. I find a lot of
enriching, wonderful discussions going on and hope to learn and
share whatever little I know with all of you.

Just a little background about me - I was born and raised in Chennai
and Kovai. I was raised in a typical lower middle class tamil family
where the only form of entertainment in those days was open air
classical music concerts, movies in run down theatres, ilangai oli
parappu kootu thabanam and of course, Kalki and Ananda Vikatan. I
was not the ponniyin selvan generation, I was born in 70s. Being ill
I was not allowed to attend school very often and was home schooled.
This time allowed me to read the volumes of PS and other similar
works that were painstakingly bound from old magazines by my
grandmothers and aunts. I finished PS non stop during summer
holidays of 8th grade and fell in love since.

Several years later am in the states now and far away from
origins. My mother, grandmothers and all the fond women whom I shared
PS with have moved on to another world. Last year my father sent me
recently published PS, small books, no pictures, a far cry from the
beautiful illustrations of Maniyam in the original. But still
brought back a treasure of memories. My personal favorite is
Sivakamiyin Sabatham, far less characters and more depth in the
story, I felt, but PS is also a classic in its own right.

Please being here and hope to talk more soon,

    Mala
