jallikkattu
  • while the dust settles on this issue, two interesting posts....

the animal looks more like a water buffalo than a bull??

    http://www.hindu.com/2008/01/13/stories/2008011355961800.htm

this one looks like a hunting scene...the bull seems to be cornered
    and not actually charging.

its all a question of interpretting it to the occassion.
  • Since a topic on Jallikattu has opened up I wish to take it bit
tangential.Iwish to post that people should read the book (Kuru Novel)
    called "Vaadi
Vaasal" I am sure voracious readers must have read this book long back. But
this book is worth a read.

Any comments from people who have already read that book?

but dont you think it looks more like a erumai than a kaalai
  • Hi,

I have myself seen such bulls with such long curved horns. More over its
4000 years old so there are chances for your doubt also to be true. I am not
sure when the BULL was first used in Jallikattu. Infact after the Jallikattu
the Supreme Court banned another "Game" of the NE states, where two buffalo
lock horns. So you may be right

  • Hi

the logo of murosoli the flagship paper of dmk party is jallikattu.

    nice.
the poems they write are about banned organisations, and now their
logo is a banned item too.

  • Hi
two jallikattu scenes in cinema, gemini in veerapandiya kattabomman,
    and rajini in murattu kalai.
nice sport to prove your manliness i guess if your intestines dont
    spill out.
but this water buffalo fighting is common all over the far east.
