7th secret in my opinion was not the best. I agree with SPS on THE MAN, what a book. In one of the scene the Presidents secretary will come to his room to take down notes for his personal letter and to submit her resignation. That point in time the president will ask her to keep the door open inspite of that letter being a personal one and will state the reason why ... Thats the best scene I liked in that book.
Hi Wallace is a wonderful writer. I guess he takes twice as much time to research than write.
but as a comple story my vote goes for the seventh secret. the concept was brilliant. the bunker below the no man land and the only ones having access to east berlin and west berlin are the neo nazis. and hitler living till 1960s is a wonderful pice of creativity. back home we have the subhas chandra bose rumour wheere he is supposed to have survived the air crash and lived in india
a popular rumour in ramnad district was that subhas spent his last days there and used to have dinner daily with pasumpon muthuramalinga devar. people used to claim that two uses banana leaves used to be thrown out after dinner daily when devar was the obnly man supposed to be in. coming back to wallace i liked 'the miracle' also about a rumour that god was appearing in lourdes. a tamil movie 'athma' was made on that story venketesh
Generally Wallace will tie up all loose end in all his stories but that was missing in the 7th Secret. The Man he will literally take us to the White House and all the rooms in the white house. In one place he will say that the feet of young kennedy Jr is still there. I don't think a simple guided tour in the white house will help us with the intricacies which he gives us in that novel. I also learnt that Presidents Extempo in the senate is fourth in line after President / Vice President / Speaker.
> 1. THE MAN : An American Negro becoming the President of the USA by > an "hitherto" unused provision of the Constitution and the > consequences;
now with obama around it might become a reality
> 2. THE PRIZE :: Related to Nobel Price
I think erich segal also wrote another book on the nobel prize
>>Seventh Secret :: Hitler survived II World War .. and found around 1961 ..
actually 1963. eva braun in the book says he died on the same day as john f kennedy 22.10.63

The bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" is exactly the same story.
In this context, I would recommend reading a book called "Hitler's Peace", forgot the name of the author it starts with "Philip...." though. A convincing book with a fictional bias based on a series of related events, in the Teheran peace process that initiated the downfall of Germany in world war II.
Seventh secret I agree with Venkat there werent any loose ends....
The Man The black american becoming president and almost facing an impeachment procedure...Yes what might have happened to our freind Clinton... SPS only said half the secretary then admires the man closes the door and stays on to support him
THE PRIZE :: Related to Nobel Price the politics and backroom maneuvres of the Nobel price To this date this book is banned in sweden and norway
The Miracle :Miracles at Lourde
The Almighty A Media Person predicting Happenings .. but found to be stage-managed by him
Second Lady The cold war swich of the presidents wife
I was going to talk about the Chapman report and seven minutes but SPS took the lead
Puli thevar . after many stunning exploits against the british, finally fell prey to the cunningnss of arcot nawab - was arrested by the British and as he was led to the gallows , he is said to have asked for his last wish - to worship at the sankaran kovil temple. inside he was left alone to pray - the soldiers outside heard his songs in praise of the loard - but suddenly they head the sound of his broken shackles falling to the ground and he had vanished. no further news was heard of him!!!
some more rumors of his contemporary - Maruanayagam, that twice the noose slipped when he was being hanged - someothers beleived tht he will resurrect from his death and hence his dead body was cut into many pieces - his head to trichy, arms to palayamkottai, legs to tanjore !!
In one of Kenneth anderson's omnibusses ( the bangalore based hunter called the jim corbet of south india) writes about his meetings with malaiyur mambattian in similar light.
But Some of his later books were not tht great. For Eg. The Fan club. It is about 4Fans (fanatics) of an actress kidnapping her...more on the soft porn side.. looked more like Harold Ribbins...
My favoured Wallace book is also "The Seven Minutes" though "The Man" and "the Plot" too were good apart from the R Document which was banned during the Emergency as it's details closely resembled the happenings in India. I also recommend some other authors for our members
1. Leon Uris (His Mila18 is a classic) 2. Philip Margolin 3. Steve Martini (Very good court room dramas, better than even John Grisham) 4. James Patterson (his Alex Cross books are superb) 5. John Sandford (Mind Prey and the rest) 6. Stuart Woods (very fast paced novels involving policeman turned lawyer Stone Barrington) 7. Mario Puzo (The Godfather)8. Jonathan Kellerman (phychologist Alex Delaware novels)
Dear Ramasamy You havent mentioned the most famous Uris...the Exodus....on the formation of Isreal....Armageddon on the partition of Germany....The Trinity and Angry Hills on Ireland and The Battele cry
Going back to earlier authors I will recommend Herman Wouk's Caine Mutiny, an outstanding novel, and the Alistair McLean thrillers of which I consider his first one - HMS Ulyssus - as his best. The novel is about a real-life happening in World War II when German U-Boats were posing a menace to convoys of the Allied powers in the Atlantic. This novel is about a convoy of ships carrying weapons, food etc to Murmansk in Russia close to the Arctic circle. The cold weather described by McLean will make one feel the chill literally. The main characters of this novel - Admiral Tyndall and Captain Valery have been portrayed brilliantly - true-to-life. If one likes war stories (Second World War vintage) this is the book.
Eye of the needle of Ken follet is also a gripping book. It was made into a Movie with Donald sutherland in the lead. Ken follet is a king of spy fiction. Sundar
about the building of a cathedral in Kingsbridge (an ancient town located in Southern England). It is set in the middle of the 12th century, primarily during the time of war known as The Anarchy. Follett's publishers were apprehensive about both the content and the length, which is 973 pages. When the novel was published in 1989, Follett surprised his readers, since he had previously been known for thrillers. However, this book became Follett's best-selling work, over time
Yes, I have read all those, including The Topaz and the one about the Irish militants, but my favourite book of Uris is Mila18 about the jews trapped in one of the concentration camps in Warsaw awaiting Hitler's "Final Solution". It's to me the ultimate novel by this author. I have read Armageddon too.
Someone has mentioned Frederick Forsyth. "The Day of the Jackal" was a classic but the film did not measure upto the book. So also was the novel on Waffen SS "The Odessa File", also a gripping book. Another fine author of thrillers is "Colin Forbes". I like his wartime (WWII) novels. Ramaswamy
