Hi from new member!!!
  • Hello friends,

    Vanakkam.

Thanks to moderators for approving my membership. I am still going
thru the first 1000 mails. Wow!! what a wonderful collection!!! I
got answers for most of the mind blowing questions i had after
    reading Ponniyin Selvan.

Let me give a self intro.

I did M.A (History) in SRC, Trichy and came to US after marriage.
Got to know about this group thru varalaaru.com. The magazine is a
wonderful service. The articles are really a grand feast for all
history lovers. Hats off to the dedicated team!!! Would have joined
hands if i am in Trichy now. Missing!!! Prof. Nalini and Prof. Veni
devi were my teachers and they are highly knowledged. Dr.Nalini only
taught us how to take estempage of stone inscriptions.

Prof. Veni devi did extensive research on Kalappiras. Its very
painful to know that Madhan spreads wrong news (no info what
happened during 3 centuries of Kalappiras period) inspite of her
hardwork. Not only my professor. A long list of scholars and books
and research materials on Kalappiras were given in the appendix of
her thesis. He should have made attempts to verify before uttering
something he is not sure of.

Ponniyin Selvan was introduced to me during my +2 exam holidays by
my neighbour. That was my first historical novel. Before that i used
to read only Rajeshkumar novels. Thought historical novels were
boring. But finished Ponniyin selvan continuously in a week time.
Got pulled towards history. So, discontinued B.Com course and joined
B.A History. During my under graduation i read it twice. First time
in the banks of Kaveri and next time in big temple. Sitting on the
steps and water touching the feet and reading about her selvan!!
What a pleasant experience!! I suggest you people also to go through
    the same.

Its very nice to meet like minded people here.

you are lucky. right now sitting at the banks of kaveri with water
touching your feet sounds a bit of a fiction or a dream that's never
    gonna come true.

Howdy, Stranger!
