  • A note worthy article from Rediff. I was surprised to learn from the
    tail end of the article that he is an atheist.

    The authors reference to Lord Macaulay - I think Swetha forwarded a
    link sometime back which talked about it.

    Even I have come across many mails which state about Lord Macaulay's
    conclustion after travelling the whole India.

    If that was the step the Britishers took to conquer us, what exactly
    they did to make us feel that foreign and English are superior than
    own culture... Becos, it would not have happened over-night...must
    have taken some time to change the minds of the people...

    Had there been any revolt from our end during those steps ? Say, did
    the Britishers insist everyone to join the schools built by them
    taught with their curriculum ?

    Any such incidents mentioned in the Independence history ?

    Please put forward if anyone have elaborate details on this regard.
