STATE ARCHEOLOGY
  • Dear Friends,

Politically between Present Tamilnadu Ruling party and past Party
which Ruled, there have been striking difference in looking at
things. But to our fortune they both are looking at one thing from
    almost the same plane.

TAMILNADU (STATE) ARCHEOLOGY under the Directorship of Dr. K.
    Sridharan. IAS.

I have been wanting to highlight the high-points several times, but
    some how was getting side-tracked.

For the past 3 - 4 years, (till May 2006) the Department under
intensive epigraphical recordings and publications has completed about
    11000 inscriptions !

There have been remarkable finds on Tamil Brahmi scripts.

The latest one being the stone-age axe with Tamil Brahmi inscription
    found near Kutthalam, Mayiladuthurai.

Dr. Kalaignar, upon taking over as Chief Minister has personally
examined this axe and COMMENDED on all concerned - espeicllay Dr.
Sridharan. He also recorded his regards and appreciation to Dr.
    Iravatham Mahadevan.

Tamilnadu State Archelogy has brought out a Special Ediction
    in "KALVETTU" on this achievement!

State Government has promised more support under Classical Tamil
    Language Programme.

Through our contacts, we have also brought it to the attention of the
CM that Tamil inscriptions are lying unattended in Mysore and Hon'ble
CM has taken note of this. This matter will be set on motion through
    beauracracy in the first phase.

    Will report more soon.

  • Whoever does this for fame or political mileage, does it good, for
the future generation; with the same contacts, why can't we alram
the bells about the sorry state of almost 35,000 temples within the
    state?
