  • Singeeswarar temple in Mappedu, near Tiruvallur-Arakkonam is said to
have been construsted by AK. Not sure about inscriptional evidence.
Said to be later renovated by RRC, the gopuram has a palm size
sculpture similar to the painting in big temple, with a man and two
ladies in worshiping posture. Features are ditto...
  • Hi

thiruvallam is a temple on the banks of a river called niva( just
like vaigai shiva said "nii vaa" and the river sprang forth.
The temple has highlighted all kalvettus with white and yellow paint
and made it easy to read.

    Dear SPS,

Speaking about vallam, I came across another vallam near Tanjai. I
just read it a few days back, but forgot the context or in which book.
I will find and post. But is there a vallam near tanjavru? If yes, are
we looking at the wrong vallam..just thinking aloud
  • I visited this temple some 1 and half to two years back. Dont remember
exactly when, but sure during the initial days of joining PS. Because
the particular sculpture struck me like anything, as I read about the
descripition of the paininting given by Kamal of varalaaru.com

Actually, from Kanchi, I took the Arakkonam route, visited Koovam
temple, and then to return to chennai took the route via perambakkam.
Suddenly saw an old temple nearby and visited it and the gurukkal told
us the name of the place and the details i furnished. The temple was
totally torn into pieces as renovation work was going on. Only the
rajagopuram was intact. Not sure how many inscriptions would have been
preserved now. Should be less than an hours journey from Poonamalee,
if we take the Tiruvallur turn.
