"Chozhap perumanadigal"

    The above title was widely adopted by Aditya Chola I. Many of his
    inscriptions refer him by this title.

    What is interesting is the God himself, in the same inscription is
    referred to as Mahadevap Perumanadigal.

    Chozhap perumanadigal - Mahadevap perumanadigal

    The Adai mozhi is same !

    Later kings from Parantaka seem to have kept away from this title.

    Any thoughts on why Aditya adopted this title ?

    The nexus between cheras and cholas is too close. We have'nt focussed
    much on this. Particularly during aditya time, friendship was at its
    peak. During parantaka times it started to sour but every other king
    had a queen from chera family - RR inclusive
