Palani Kumbabishekam

Lord Murugaa of palani is an enchanting deity with a catchy smile

It is a well known fact that the thiruvaavinankudi sung by Nakeerar
is the temple that lies below the hills (today called kuzhandai
velayudasamy temple) not the hilltop temple

The hilltop temple is said to have been established by seraman
perumal. I cannot see or understand this connection. There are other
inscriptions availble on the hilltop temple

Muruga was always portrayed with Senni in olden days - even in chola
period. Never has there been an old muruga sculpture without senni.
    Numerous examples can be cited.

But this senni is missing in considerable no of aarupadai veedu
temples. I don't know the reason. Thiruttani it is missing. Palani
missing. Thiruparamkundram we already spoke (!). Thiruchendur I doubt
    if there is senni....

    Opinions welcome

    Dear swetha

It is a big headband worn just over the netri. It sometimes looks like
    a part of kireeta makuta

You might have heard this song in "Malargal" serial every day.. "Senni
kuLa nagar vaasan..." the name senni kulam was inspired by Muruga's
    senni !
  • senni kula nagar vaasan

is a kavadi sinthu by annamalai reddiar

listen to it sung by sowmya or unnikrishnan and you will know bliss

    venketesh

does senni malai have something to do with this ornament?
