Routmap to KOVOOR ( Temple cleaning on 15th january 2006 Hi, Please find attached the routemap to kovoor. Kovoor is around 5 Kms from Porur junction on the road to Kundrathur. To reach porur, you can come through Kathipara Junction, or Vadapalani or poonamallee. If you plan to travel by bus, you can catch bus number 88M from vadapalani bus stand, or any bus from city indicating kunrathur goes via kovoor . I will be travelling from West Mambalam, I will reach there through vadapalani, kesavardhini, porur. If possible we will have a few meeting points, enroute west mambalam to kovoor. 1) The first point would be in front of ayodhya madapam in west mambalam betweeen 6 Am and 6.10 AM. 2) The second meeting point would be vadapalani venkeeswarar temple., between 6.20 to 6.25 3) The third point would be in front of the sivan temple(I think it is agastheeswarar temple, virugambakkam, on arcot road). 6.35-6.40 4) Porur Junction. If you travel a little further from the porur junction, you will find a big arch of a temple on the left side. Near that point i will be there between 6.55 and 7.05 AM 5) Will be reaching Kovoor around 7.20 AM You can identify me by my bike. The bike is red colour TVS Centra and the number is TN 09 AK 7096. I will be having a mobile on that day with me, so you can contact the number 9884447236 on that day. Please let me know if you will be joining us so that we can arrange for breakfast. We need to know the number of people who would be joining us. Also let us know if you would like to meet me in any of the points mentioned above so that we can plan accordingly. If in case no one is there for a given point, we will skip that. If in case you would like to suggest some more points for meeting please let me know, so that we can decide. We can start our work by 7.20 AM and complete it by arund 10 AM. After that we can have a small discussion about our future Goals and activities. Hope to meet you all on January 15th 2006 at Kovoor. To start with can proceed with db on chennai temples. But slowly we can collect the database of all the temples in the southern states. We are targetting temples which are ancient ones. Its ok if we include temples in the city limits too. But let us go in for a database of temples atleast more than 100 years old. It would be better if we have the following information. 1. Location(Address). 2. Management. 3. Contact person/s, 4. Background information 5. Special features 6. No. of idols installed and their description 7. Details of poojas, festivals and special events being carried out 8. Details of assets - land, jewellery etc. 9. No. of people working 10 Requirements of the temple! and assitance needed from the public e.g. for a. renovation b maintenance c. support for deserving staff. d. nithya poojas, annadhanam and other activities and so on. 11. God and Goddess name 12. Sacred Tanks in the temple. 13. How old is the temple 14. When was last kumba abhisekam performed. 15. The time when the temple is open. 16. How many kala poojas are conducted. The information would be helpful in identifying temples that need renovation and support for maintenance. Also it would help in identifying the assets that is with the temple, so that these assets can be saved from being vandalised. Regarding veda patasala, please send the following information 1) Veda patasala name 2) Location(Address) 3) Contact persion 4) How many students 5) Which veda. 6) How many Teachers 7) Whose name we should send the money if we wish to. 8) How many years the vedapatasala is existing etc For Goshala, please send us the following information. 1)Gosala name 2)Location(Address) 3)Contact persion 4)How many Cows/Bulls 5)Whose name we should send the money if we wish to. 6)How many years the Gosala is existing For odhuvars send the contact information.
