Mamallapuram experiments : New (Ancient) township
  • Dear Friends,

Today ASI Dr. Sathiamurthy has unveiled details of under-water experiments
    leading to discoveries of:

    1. another elephant - Lion - Peacock etc., stone carved;
    2. Five temples (other than the two shore temples); and
    3. A township (may be palace or place of worship) of about 500 meter radius.

He is looking forward to have more experiments conducted in mid March
during favourable sea winds, due to which the sea water would turn clearer!

    fondly, sps
  • this is great and interesting!

What a great news SB !

Do you all know that there have been many many legends(?) in the
past about the seven pagodas on the shores of mahamallapuram ? I
vaguely remember in graham hancock or somewhere that the kalasaas of
these seven temples use to glow and use to be visible far away in
the sea. I even read a BBC article about this but lost the URL.

Mamallapuram existed well before the pallavas but narasimha and
followers made it a flourishing sea port

  • Dear SB and Gokul
It is indeed very topical that they have found these ruins...in mahabalipuram...
It again prooves and reminds us of our heritage...and ancestry

I was going thru the net and found these links may be interesting

The problem we now have is convincing the western or traditional scholars of their merit...It may change with this regime because the previous regime was claiming it was all due to the Sanskrit Hindu Civilisations...
and without convincing proof other than myths and legends
Let us hope that this will take us in the right direction
