I have been reading the mails in this forum for sometime and I should mention that my interest in Tamil and history (and also Tamilhistory) is intensified with the information available in this forum.
I will be visiting Tamilnadu in December and I want to purchase sarithira novels which are real good. I have my own copy of Ponniyin Selvan and Sivakamiyin sabadham. Other than these can someone give a list of titles with author name and availability for guidance?
Most of the Tamil Historic novels are published by Vanathi Pathipagam. They are at T-Nagar Chennai. Drop down here and you can buy all the novels in print. They also do overseas shipping.
As Arun said, 'Kadal Pura' and 'YavanaRani' of Sandilyan will be good choice. It deals with chola emperors.
If u r interested to know about later pandyas read 'Raja Muthirai'. Also, u can read 'JalaDheepam' to know about Maratha rulers who succeeded Chathrapathi Shivaji. Both are by Sandilyan.
To know abt, Rajendra Chola read 'Vengaiyin Maindhan' by Akilan and 'Mannan Magal' by Sandilyan.
To know the complete history of Mogul Empire, get Madhan's 'Vandhaargal Vendraargal' from Vikatan pathipagam. Ur heart will definitely cry while reading this book, b'cos u will come to know the number of plights Indians have faced.
er.. Suganya... you have just created a major faux pas in the eyes of the many "secularists" in the Indian media you know.. Weren't you taught that the Mughals were benign rulers and that all indians loved them ?:-)
> I read a couple of chapters of your English > translation of SS in your blogs. It is wonderful. Do > you have it as a PDF or .DOC file?
Thanks:-). Yep, I do have a doc version...an enormous file. Makes it easier in my blog when I'm releasing it on a twice-weekly basis (or whenever I can manage).
Can you convert it as a PDF file ( 1 file per volume ) and upload it to groups such as Project Madurai etc., ? I hope lot of people will find this translation interesting and will Best regards,
I remember now that I HAVE read Kanni Maadam. Haven't read Jahanara or VanthaargaL vendraargal either. THanks.. shall add them to my To-Read list.
btw, a personal request, let's drop the "Dr" can we? That is one affectation one can do without and I ain't a regular pill-dispensing vaiththiyar either!
