On the Shivaratri day, people goes to Shiva temples to offer the traditional worship. Many devotees keep fast on the day and stay awake for the whole night chanting Shiva mantras and devotional songs. In some of the Shiva Temples, the Natyanjali Festival is also performed to contribute their dance to the Lord Shiva.
