I had the personal privilege of interacting with Mr Sahayam when he was District Revenue Officer Chennai District during 2004 - 2005 for Tsunami victims..
He was handling all the Tsunami victims of Chennai District and arranging for their reliefs.
Rajarajam IAS was handling similar relief work in the southern Coastal districts.
Mr Sahayam was available almost 24 hrs - day and night in his Office (Collectorate Singavelan Maligai - Beach Road, Chennai) and attended masses of Tsunami-affected fisher-persons - mostly women - and taken their calls very politely ..
Several important dignitaries were waiting outside his office while these affected-victims could meet him freely and express their immediate needs !!!
