In a bid to build up my meagre knowledge of Tamil history, I saw the movie "Parthiban Kanavu" very recently. This movie, it states in the introduction is based on Shri Kalki's novel of Parthiban Kanavu.
It has raised a few doubts for me....and I am hoping that one of you could clear this for me. The movie starts with Parthiba Chola's defeat at the hands of Narasimha Pallava's army, prior to which he describes his dream to his son, Vikraman. Towards the end of the movie, this very same Vikraman is shown to have married Narasimha Pallavar's daughter.
My questions are:
1) Is this the basis for the re-emergence of the Chola's as a major force?
2) Is Vijayalaya Cholan the progney of Vikrama Cholan and Narasimha Palllava's daughter?
3) What is then, the status of Narasimha Pallava's son?
If one of you could please answer these questions for me, which I know are pretty basic, it would still help me a lot.
With Regards,
Sriraman
