When Mr. M. Karunanidhi was the CM, he formed a ' 'VARALATRU KUZHU' . He made arrangements to compile the history of TN by Dept. of Tamil development. They published a series of books on Pallava, Pandiya and Chozha.These series of books are available at Dept. of Tamil development, Kuralagam, Ch-108 and Ulaga tamil araichi niruvanam, Taramani, Chennai.
Though these books have some biased opinions these are the latest available total compilation. Dr. Kalaikovan was also a member of Varalatru Kuzhu (1996-99).
