The meeting of those who wanted to go on the PS trip took place at roughly 4.30 PM today (sunday, 26th Jan.) at Marina Beach.
What we didn't expect was the turn-out for the meeting. Dhanya's article generated a lot of interest. Kamalakkannan, his wife Vijayapriya, Dhanya, Lavanya, Anuradha I and my mom met right beside the Gandhi Silai landmark. There was quite a large group of people waiting under a shaamiyaanaa. We wondered who they were, until one of them came and informed us that they were all waiting for the PS trip organizers!
There were two people from Indian Express, the editor of Kalki magazine, Ms. Seethaa Ravi, the historical writer, "Vishwaksenan", and others were present. Kamalakannan was asked to start the proceedings. Our route map was read out by one of the people present, after which discussions started in earnest. Everybody was enthusiastic. Suggestions about the places to visit, accomodations and transport flew to and fro. (One enthusiast suggested journeying to Viranam Eri and counting all the 72 mathagus). A lot of people wanted to join in, so we can expect a surge in our numbers.:-)
Ms. Seetha Ravi gave certains valuable suggestions about the trip . As per what she said, "Vishwaksenan" will be accompanying those of us who're going on the trip- so I guess the question of coverage is taken care of.
The next point was the coverage by Vikatan- who grouped us all in and took some photos. Some of the cast of the "Magic Lantern" were there too- the scriptwriters of 'Ponniyin Selvan' drama staged in YMCA two or three years ago.
After that everyone began to drift off. We stayed talking for sometime after that. I, Lavanya, Anuradha, Kamal and Vijaya, a lawyer called Dhakshaayani and one Mr. Seethaaraama Sharma sat down to discuss the trip in earnest. Here's the summary of what happened:
1. Kamal is to be entrusted with the organization part of it (booking rooms, transport, etc.) with help from all of us. He and Lavanya will probably meet an expert on the places we're going to visit - a Mr. Rafael. (Again suggested by Kalki's editor)
2. The next meeting for the PS trip people is going to be at the Kalki magazine's registered office, at Ekkaaduthaanggal, at 4 PM on sunday (Feb. 2nd). This was suggested by Ms. Seethaa Ravi. So everyone who wants to come, please be there.
Krupa, Ravi et al...what happenend to you guys? We could have done with your presence.
Kamal will be getting back to us with his own reports.(He did quite a great job at the meeting:-)

I should have come on that day, but I was in such a terrible position. I feel very bad (again!) for I had to missed it :-( I am in fact coming to the INTERNET WORLD after a long time............
