katumannar koil bridge may make it more accesible to tourists
  • freinds,
two days ago i went to katumannarkoil, mela-kadamboor,keezhakadamboor, and went near the new bridge coming up on kollidam. it is linking mayiladuthurai and katumannarkoil. the two towns will become closer( about 30km) from now.now my car cruised across kollidam river to reach vaiddheeaswarn koil via manalmedu. it was a panoramic journey. the paddy fields were green as ever. farmers were busy. there was water every where.

the udayarkudi temple was a simple but elegant temple. it has inscriptions in every nook and corner. the temple is in fact a library of inscriptions. but the priest closes it by 11 am. one has to go before that. kezha kadmboor temple is renovated by state archeology department in asimple manner but it is worth visiting as much as melakadampoor temple.

i went to thiruvenkadu via vaitheeswarankoil. now the new by pass road has made the journey faster. thiruvenkadu was the "adhichidambaram". it was here the nataraja was worshiped but later shifted to "thillai"(present chidambaram).i learnt this town has a mention in sangam literature too. i went to poompuhar and returned back in the evening to chidambaram.

thus a circuit journey from chidambaram to katumannarkoil and poompuhar was simpler now with the new bridge(yet to be finished).

i think in about a year the bridge will be operational and people from chennai can come to katumannarkoil straight from vadaloor and go to mayiladuthurai easily.
